MGT 1133 Final Assessment (40%) 

Course Learning Outcome:

CLO 1: Identify basic concepts, functions, and roles of management in organizational settings. (PLO1, C1)

CLO 2: Describe how planning, organizing, leading, and controlling are applied in managing an organization. (PLO2, C2)

CLO 3: Apply management concepts to analyze business problems and propose strategic solutions

Assignment Description:

In groups of 4–5 members (same groups as previous assignment ), students are required to simulate a real-world management crisis affecting the company previously analyzed.

Each group will conduct:

1. 2-Minute Crisis Management Meeting (Role Play)

Students must act out a short emergency meeting demonstrating how managers respond to a sudden crisis.

The role play should include:

  • Identification of the crisis
  • Immediate managerial response
  • Managerial roles applied (interpersonal, informational, decisional) l Brief coordination between team members

2. 3-Minute Crisis Action Plan Presentation

After the role play, students will deliver a short presentation explaining their action plan. 

The presentation must:

  • Analyze the crisis using management concepts (POLC, leadership, communication, decision-making)
  • Propose strategic, realistic solutions
  • Show clear application of planning, organizing, leading, and controlling
  • Highlight expected outcomes and recovery measures

3. Crisis Scenario ( Each Group Has To Choose One Scenario)

  • Factory Breakdown – Main machine crashes, production stops.
  • Key Supplier Bankruptcy – Raw materials stop immediately.
  • Sudden Logistics Failure – Delivery partner strike; shipments stuck.
  • Product Contamination – Suspected contamination; recall needed.
  • Stock Shortage During Peak Season – Demand triples but inventory empty.
  • Employee Strike – Protest due to low pay and long hours.
  • Workplace Accident – Multiple injuries; public concern rising.
  • High Staff Resignation Rate – 10 employees resign in one week.
  • Department Conflict – Marketing vs Operations conflict.
  • CEO Resigns Abruptly – No succession plan.
  • Cyberattack & Data Breach – Systems hacked; data leaked.
  • System Breakdown During Mega Sale – Website crashes.
  • AI System Error – Prices drop to RM1 due to AI bug.
  • Viral TikTok Cancellation – Negative review goes viral.
  • Failed Product Launch – Pricing mistake and poor planning.

Slide 6–7: Immediate Response (Short Term), Actions taken within the first 24–48 hours

Slide 8–9: Strategic Action Plan (Long Term), Detailed strategies, Departments involved, Implementation method

Slide 10: Expected Benefits and Impact, Organizational improvements, Recovery expectations

Slide 11: Conclusion and Key Takeaways

Total recommended: Maximum 15 slides

Submission Guidelines:

Format: Create a visually appealing presentation. Ensure each slide is clear, concise, and includes relevant visuals.
Length: Aim for maximum 15 slides, with each slide focusing on a specific aspect of the assignment.
Submission: Submit your presentation as a PDF or PowerPoint file.

Assignment Submission

The assignment must be completed and submitted on the assigned date. All groups are required to present their Final Assessment during class as discussed. The latest presentation and submission deadline is Week 14. Any submissions after 12:00 PM or beyond the agreed date will be subjected to mark reduction. Groups who fail to submit the assignment will receive a mark of 0.
