Task summary: Select a role, service area, or organisation and deliver a ten-minute audio podcast on the communication skills involved in the area and how collaboration features as part of a multidisciplinary team approach.

You should include an introduction to the area you have chosen, to set the context of your audio piece.
You should include a description of what you have learnt about the role of different types of communication and how they can impact on different areas of work.
You should talk about the role of communication in managing potential conflict and negotiation.
You should talk about the role of interprofessional working and how it features in the context of the area you have chosen.
Your podcast should:
Outline the background of the chosen role or organisation. You can choose one from the list if you wish, e.g., Residential setting. Supported living service Nursing Home GP surgery Day centre (identify the type of centre) Dementia Specialist Unit Hospital Ward – identify the ward Facility for Young Adult who are neurodiverse Working with a physically disadvantaged person (disability) etc Outline what interprofessional working is, why this is needed, and how this is done within your chosen role/organisation considering who the key stakeholders are
Consider how people communicate within your organisation, and how they communication with outside stakeholders. Review the importance of clear communication and collaboration within the role/organisation You can refer to your own experiences where appropriate here (LO1) i.e the role communication played to support a success or an issue
Describe the different types of communication and the impact they can have. This should include a discussion on verbal and non-verbal communication. You should specifically consider the impact of these different forms of communication on multi professional team working Discuss the role of communication in managing potential conflict and negotiation. This should include at lest 1 theory relating to conflict management. This should be applied to your chosen organisation. (LO2) Outline the concept of shared leadership and role of team work to support interprofessional working. (LO3) (LO4) You should have clear, professional communication in your podcast. Your work should refer to the sources of your knowledge where you are using theory, concepts, published material etc. to support your views and opinion. This can be addressed verbally as “name” or “name in year”, as you would within a written piece. The full reference list should be written on the final slide Your podcast should be accessible and engaging for a non-specialist audience. You should clearly explain key terms and maintain a tone suitable for public engagement You can consider how you wish to complete your podcast: Solo commentary Interview Panel discussion Your submission should consist of a slide deck with:

Your understanding of communication principles and their importance and application to resolve conflict within a team Your ability to clearly define key concepts and apply them on the chosen role/organisation The clarity of your podcast, pay attention to sound quality, pace and intelligibility of your podcast Your assignment should include: a title page containing your student number, the module name, the submission deadline and the exact word count of your submitted document; the appendices if relevant; and a reference list in (see referencing section for more information). You should address all the elements of the assignment task listed below. Please note that tutors will use the assessment criteria set out below in assessing your work.
You must not include your name in your submission because Arden University operates anonymous marking, which means that markers should not be aware of the identity of the student. However, please do not forget to include your STU number.

- LO 5 Perform effectively within the professional environment. Work within a team, demonstrating interpersonal skills such as effective listening, negotiating, persuading and presentation. Be flexible and adaptable to changes within the professional environment
