Description of the assessment

This is a reflection report of 1,500 words written on a given template which asks you to reflect on your learning from the formative tasks, activities and exercises which you have undertaken over the early part of the module. It is therefore vital that you engage with and undertake the activities you are asked to do so that you have something to reflect on.

Relationship to Programme Assessment Strategy

These formative activities replicate and allow you to practice what you will need to do for the second assessment. Additionally, the feedback you receive from this first assessment can be used to feed into and enhance your second assessment.

Reflecting on your learning is part of the programme assessment strategy for all the programmes to which the module is attached. This allows you to describe what you have done, consider the ‘pros’ and ‘cons’ of those actions and decide how you might use these in the future.

Assessment Content

Over the first few weeks of the module, you will be asked to undertake a variety of formative activities before and during the workshops in which you will apply appropriate models, frameworks and/or theories to develop and build your knowledge and skills of creating your own valuable ‘Born Global’ business opportunity. These activities will replicate and help you practice what you will have to do as part of CW2 (the 10 min video).

As a consequence of these activities, reflect on the following question, ensuring you critically evaluate how you applied appropriate models, frameworks and/or theories (but excluding PESTLE, SWOT or Porter’s Five Forces) as part of your reflection:

What did you do in the formative activities, what did you learn from these formative activities and the subsequent feedback, and how will you apply this learning in your CW2 submission, and in the future beyond that?

This assessment will be 1,500 words +/- 10% and a standard template will be provided for you to use for this report. You will need to:

  • Work individually.
  • Use Harvard referencing throughout the report, as appropriate.
  • Decide which formative activities or elements of these activities you wish to reflect on – do not try to cover everything as you will not have enough words to go into the necessary depth.
  • Ensure you reflect on the above question to fully answer the brief. Reflections which are overly general, generic, only concentrate on the lecture content and/or do not address the formative activities undertaken will have this fact taken into consideration during marking.

Note that CW1 will be marked anonymously and feedback will be provided through TurnitIn. Please see table under Key Dates above for when feedback will be provided.

Assessment AI-assistance

In this assessment AI-assistance is permitted in the following ways:

  • You MAY use generative AI tools to help develop ideas and/or create a structure for your reflection report.
  • You MAY use AI tools to help identify appropriate and correct academic sources to use within your reflection report, although these should be checked independently.
  • You MAY use AI tools to fix spelling, grammar and syntax issues in a draft that you have written.
  • You MAY use AI tools to receive feedback on your work so that you can enhance and improve your reflection report.

In this assessment AI-assistance should not be used for:

  • You MAY NOT include invented references, such as those created by generative AI tools.
  • You MAY NOT use AI tools to generate or produce evidence to support your reflection report.
  • You MAY NOT use AI Tools to produce a draft of your work, the final version of your work or make inferences in your work.

It is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to check ALL information generated by generative AI tools. Any misuse of generative AI tools could be considered ethical academic misconduct (as per Academic Regulations, Academic Misconduct, Section J2). If in doubt, please consult your module leader.

Anonymous Marking

Submissions in Turnitin and Blackboard

You must submit your work using your student number to identify yourself, not your name. You must not use your name in the text of the work at any point. When you submit your work in Turnitin you must submit your student number within the assignment document and in the Submission title field in Turnitin. Guidance is available showing how to do this.
