During the semester, each student can watch a video or attend a live jazz performance to review. The report should be typed, double-spaced, with 1-inch margins, 12-point Times Font, and two pages per concert report (two total). Include in your report the concert title and instrumentation, briefly describe the performance venue and physical surroundings, describe the composition you liked the most and why, explain the composition you liked the least and why, did this performance “transport” you out of your daily thoughts, or was it hard to stay focused? What emotions or images were evoked in you by the performance? You will receive the total points possible if the above format is followed. The title should be your name, class, and concert report 1 or 2. Term Paper: The term paper must be typed and double-spaced, with 1-inch margins, in 12-point Times New Roman, and be five pages long, excluding the bibliography, in MLA or APA format. The paper must include references to at least three outside sources whose information is integrated into the writing. I can help you with your subject and, hopefully, a debatable thesis, but it is not mandatory. Please include a bibliography. Your subject could be an obscure artist, a record label, an era, or an instrument, along with the artists who brought it to prominence. Basically, anything that deals with jazz as the central subject.
