Using the style of food service operation you identified in Week 1, as the context for your discussion, identify the 7 types of “Muda” and isolate an example applicable to your style of operation. This element can be in outline or paragraph form. Do not use examples used in the lesson content.

Once the examples are identified, identify what you believe would be the top two contributors to waste in your operation and discuss how you can mitigate that waste as a factor. Remember, waste could occur in production or in service and the remedy could be in the other. The intent is to anticipate a problem and plan remedies so be creative in identifying what possible causes may be.

In your discussion, address the following elements;

· How could you incorporate elements from the video into your role as a manager and leader within your operation?

· Are the factors in the equation literal or metaphorical? Explain using examples.

Wk 3- I remember having a disagreement with my sons father about whether or not de deserved to be placed on child support. I would of rather had a mediator to help explain to him why child support would be better than no support. Talking to him was like talking to a brick wall but trying to make him see that him doing nothing was not working for me or his son so being forced to take care of his job was the better option for me. Were I conduct mediation between parties, I would prefer the facilitation style of mediation since it leaves the parties to arrive at a solution themselves. This would be required in disputes of a personal or emotional nature. Amongst the four kinds of mediation, I will opt for transformative mediation which builds relationships and ensures empathy as understood by the facilitative approach

 Recall the dispute that was the subject of your answer to the Week 3 discussion. Now suppose that instead of mediation, you have to arbitrate the same dispute. Would you prefer a binding or incentive arbitration structure? Does it depend on the nature of the dispute? Or the disputants? Explain your choice.

 Based on your answer to #1, which type of award model would you prefer for your dispute? Would you allow the arbitrator to have unrestricted discretion? Would you instead prefer to set mutual limits on such awards? Or would you rather use a ‘final offer selection’-type strategy? Explain your answer.
