Assessment Task:

To create a Professional Presentation OR Digital Portfolio to showcase your professional identity and leadership potential.

This coursework allows for creative exploration and presentation of your key transferable skills, attributes, values and experiences to professional contacts and potential employers in your chosen industry.

It is intended that this project will be of value to you beyond the assessment and in your future efforts when seeking work or becoming self-employed. A high level of critical self-reflection is integral to this assessment process.

Students should choose one of the following options:

1. To deliver a 15-minute Professional Presentation supported by digital technologies
OR
2. To create a Digital Portfolio (equivalent to approx. 1,500 words).

Learning outcomes assessed:

  1. Reflect on, evaluate and develop one’s own transferable skills, values and leadership potential in relation to chosen market/sector needs
  2. Exhibit technical competency in using appropriate digital software technologies and show understanding of chosen medium(s) as an effective communication tool
  3. Demonstrate presentation and communication skills as core employability competencies

These tasks will assess your self-reflection and digital abilities as well as your communication skills in relation to presenting your professional identity and leadership potential. A keen understanding of your chosen market/sector needs is required.

Guidance:

Option 1: The framework of your 15-minute Professional Presentation should take the form of:

  • A creative, in-person (verbal) presentation supported by digital mediums which best showcases your professional identity, leadership style, skills and qualities, which relate to a specific leadership role in an organisation of your choice that you aspire to work in. 
  • It should highlight your transferable skills, attributes, leadership style, values and experiences to demonstrate your suitability for the requirements of being a leader in your chosen organisation and sector.
  • Academic and industry leadership theory should be used throughout to underpin your work.
  • In-text references should be integrated into and throughout the slides and a Reference List using Harvard conventions provided on the final slide.
  • You are recommended to use the classroom teaching technologies for the presentation (screen etc).

Option 2: The framework of your digital online Portfolio should take the form of:

  • A creative personal website that links to different online content elements / sections which best showcase your professional identity, leadership style, skills and qualities, which relate to a specific leadership role in an organisation of your choice that you aspire to work in.
  • It should evidence your transferable skills, attributes, leadership style, values and experiences to demonstrate your suitability for the requirements of being a leader in your chosen organisation and sector.
  • Academic and industry leadership theory should be used throughout the online portfolio to underpin your work.
  • In-text references should integrated into and throughout the Portfolio itself, and a Reference List using Harvard conventions provided on the Cover sheet – see below Submission Guidelines.
  • The overall word count for the Portfolio is approx. 1,500 words.
  • You are recommended to use Wix, Adobe or other comparable software programs in the creation of the Digital Portfolio
