Task: Report (2000 WORDS)

After successful completion of a business degree, assume being appointed as a Human Resource Officer in a renowned company (of your choice) in the UK. Your role as the new recruit is to establish a strong relationship across the departments for an effective teamwork. To achieve this, your line manager has asked you to review the recruitment policies to ensure the company recruits the right candidate for the right job and retain those candidates through effective people management practices. Your task is to write 2000 words report which will be presented to senior management (SMT) in the next SMT meeting due in one month’s time. The report MUST address the following 5 points:

  1. A detailed explanation of the recruitment process for a particular job within the company including Job analysis, job description, person specification and job offer.
  2. Different types of interviews highlighting their benefits and challenges for each type chosen (Recommended 3 types of interviews e.g. Traditional – One to One interview, group interviews, panel interview, phone interview etc).
  3. The importance of reference and background checks for both employer and employee.
  4. From the employer perspective explain the steps of a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) plan for a 60-day probation period including its purpose and the forms of delivery such as workshops, on the job learning, self-learning etc. As part of this report, you are also asked to identify several challenges you encountered in your role while going through the recruitment process such as communication skills, team building, time management, and digital skills, motivation and others.
  5. As the new human resource officer write a reflective summary of your role using ONE human resource management theory you are familiar with to construct a PDP using the template provided below to support the individual’s development of people management skills and knowledge that can be adopted by the company to improve your skills in the new role.
