  • Explain the purpose and ways of finding solutions, and the process of creating making, and reviewing choices. (Refer to: Finding Solutions) 
  • Explain concepts within counselling and strategies to address them. (Refer to: Ending the Counselling) 

Question 1

There are a number of techniques that can be used to streamline a counselling session, helping both the counsellor and client. Complete the following tasks. Explain confrontation and how it can be used appropriately. Write 150-200 words. 

Describe how reframing can be used to change a client’s perspective. Write 150-200 words.

Question 2

Normalising and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy can be powerful tools to support clients when their thoughts and behaviours are problematic to themselves. Complete the following tasks.

  • Discuss when normalising is appropriate to use and when it should not be used. Write 150-200 words. 
  • Normalising: Give an overview of CBT and how it can help individuals in 150-200 words.

Question 3

Often during the counselling process, goals will naturally emerge for the client. However, if they do not emerge, the counsellor will need to assist the client in positive goal setting. Complete the task below.

  • Explain four ways in which a client can move forward from a problematic phase to one of discovering new choices. 
  • Be sure to mention concepts as outlined in the course Finding Solutions. Write 250-300 words.
